Update The Information In The Tax Records Before The Grace Period Ends

Businesses in the UAE must update their tax records on time. The FTA gives a grace period so entities can fix or change their tax information without fines. Companies need to follow the rules to avoid penalties and legal problems.
The FTA started a grace period from 1st January 2024 to 31st March 2025. Businesses should use this time to update all tax details and stay safe from penalties.

What Amendments Must Be Reported?

All entities with a TRN must inform the FTA if they change their:

  • name, address, or email address
  • trade license activities
  • legal entity type, partnership agreement, or articles of association
  • business type or activity
  • business address

These changes must reach the FTA without any delay. If businesses don’t report these changes, they can face penalties.

What Is the FTA Grace Period?

The FTA made this grace period to help businesses. This gives companies more time to correct their records.

  • No penalties for changes made between 1st January 2024 and 31st March 2025.
  • If FTA charged a penalty during this grace period, FTA will reverse it.
  • If any penalty amount was paid during the grace period, FTA will return it to the business account.

Companies don’t need to contact FTA for this process. FTA does it automatically.

Examples of Changes to Inform During the Grace Period

Businesses must report these changes to FTA within the grace period to avoid problems:

  • Setting up a new branch and updating the trade license
  • Moving to a new business address
  • Updating VAT or excise records before registering for corporate tax
  • Registering under the UAE CT with wrong details and not fixing them in time

All these updates are allowed during the FTA’s grace period.

Steps to Update Tax Information with the FTA

Businesses must follow these steps to change their information with the FTA:

  • Log in to the EmaraTax portal
  • Check your records and verify all details
  • Submit new or updated documents
  • Send your amendment application online
  • Follow FTA’s rules and check for any feedback

Keeping all records and submitting changes fast will help you avoid trouble.
